Paul and Bonnie Russ established Russ Antiques & Auctions in 1997 to assist clients as personal property consultants. We provide advisory services for the evaluation, acquisition, donation and sale of antiques and fine arts.
Our personal full time activity in the field dates to 1985 when we continued our 100-year family business involving all aspects of the art & antique market. Since that time we have been continuously and exclusively engaged in the business of appraising, consulting, brokering and auctioning antiques and fine art. Our efforts auctioning and brokering of objects have resulted in record price results reaching sophisticated buyers on the international market.
Paul and Bonnie perform appraisals for the following purposes; insurance, donation, divorce, probate and estate planning. Areas of expertise include American, English and European furniture, fine art, silver, ceramics, porcelain, folk art and textiles from the period 1600 to the present.
Auctions are a part of our personal heritage. Paul Russ attended auctions at both the family's regional auction facility and other auctions from childhood and has been directly involved with multiple aspects of the antique business his entire life. Russ Antiques & Auctions, LLC has conducted many successful auctions in Connecticut, achieving exceptional results for quality consignments. We have had extensive media coverage for sales that have featured rare and important objects to include numerous works of Old Lyme School and American fine art, featuring a large collection of Guy Wiggins paintings.
We frequently provide appraisals for estates represented by the law firms: Waller, Smith & Palmer; Day, Berry & Howard; Wiggin & Dana; Robinson & Cole; Murtha Cullina; Kitchings & Potter; and many other prominent firms. We have also provided appraisals and auction services for museums, historical societies and bank trust departments.
We lecture on the subject of the antique and art market and have been asked to give presentations on estate planning and appraisals. Our company has conducted benefit-charity auctions on behalf of local arts organizations including Lyme Academy College of Fine Arts, Connecticut River Museum, High Hopes, and has participated in antique appraisal days to benefit numerous organizations including CPTV, various historical societies, etc.
Media coverage of our business has been through print and television including: News Channel 12 Connecticut, WVIT Channel 4, Yankee Magazine, Connecticut Magazine, Newsday, Hartford Courant, The Day, Norwich Bulletin, Westerly Sun, and The Main Street News. Featured articles have been included in Antiques & the Arts Weekly and The Maine Antique Digest.
