Kurt R. Krueger became fascinated with coins as a youngster growing up on Allman Street in Medford, Wisconsin. The wheels started to turn on a Saturday morning in the summer of 1956 when he noticed that old cents his parents kept in a dish for stamps all dated 1919 were different. One had a D under the date; another had an S and the other was blank! He wondered why they were the same, but different and, the rest is history! His exploits as a collector, a dealer a numismatic advocate and an Auction cataloger are widely recognized. He has conducted auctions in such diverse venues as Manhattan; Anaheim; Houston; Gaylord, MN and many points in between. In1980 he conducted the largest ever offering of California Fractional Gold coins up until that time in Waukesha, WI. In 1982 he conducted the widely acclaimed ANA Mid-Year Auction at Colorado Springs. In 1983 after answering the call of Robert L. Hendershott to Help the FUN convention in Orlando by coming up with a great Auction in record time. The events which followed prompted Indiana dealer Jim Fairfield to tag Krueger as “a sleeping giant” and numismatic News to credit Krueger with changing the mood of the entire market in a positive manner. 1984 brought the annual ANA Convention auction at Detroit which hammered out in excess of $3,000,000. 1982 saw the arrival of the mammoth Krueger ACE, APE and All-Celluloid Auctions taking those markets to a much more sophisticated level. He sold the first Civil War Token to break$3,000; bought the first HTT over $10,000 and became very active in the Exonumia field. Krueger catalogs are still highly valued for their wealth of information many of which exceed 5,000, 6,000 and even 7,000 lots and was the first to break the 500K barrier with an all Exonumia offering. Krueger has remained active in the field through the 1980’s until now gaining the vast knowledge one would expect by passing the elusive 5,000 mark in 2005 as the number of Auctions in which his contributions as advisor, arranger, buyer, cataloger, consignor or consultant. Krueger is equally at home in the electronic age with more than 17,000 positive feedbacks on e-Bay for his various endeavors in that arena. Important events in the past few years include the Chet Krause Wisconsin Civil war Token Collection Auction at Madison, WI and the massive Crown Point Automobile Auction in concert with Wausau Sales Corp. in Hazelhurst, WI in the summer of 2010.
