Complying with the licensure laws of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, Sam Astin is authorized to practice as an auctioneer, graduating from Harrisburg Community College for Auctioneering in 2005. In the 1980's he worked as an apprentice auctioneer for several years with the late Kenny Young Sr., a well known and respected auctioneer in Northcentral PA. Sam is employed with the American Rescue Workers, a Pennsylvania nonprofit charitable organization. Sam was instrumental in the implementation of charity auctions to provide operational funds in support of the organization's hunger and homeless prevention programs. He has also held charity auctions for the Maryland American Rescue Workers, several area nonprofits such as the Lycoming County United Way, Greater Lycoming Habitat for Humanity, the Williamsport Salvation Army, Kiwanis Club of Williamsport and the Williamsport Crosscutters.
