RICHARD H. GARVIN, CAI, GPPA, CES
FIRM: Richard H. Garvin is engaged in the business of auctions and personal property appraisals on a full-time basis. Auctioneer’s field of expertise is residential contents including antiques, residential real estate, and vehicles. Auctioneer also has extensive knowledge of business and inventory liquidation. RJ’s Auction Service and their representatives do not buy or sell personal property of any kind for their own personal gain. RJ’s Auction Service is a fourteen-year-old business that conducts approximately thirty-five auctions annually. RJ’s Auction Service is a full service auction firm which can handle the following: (1) all services that may be needed including appraisal of personal property for estate functions (Kansas and Federal tax liabilities, equitable distribution, or market value), (2) appraising business assets and inventories, (3) selling personal property or business assets and inventories, and (4) selling real estate using either the auction method or the conventional method of marketing.

BUSINESS HISTORY: 1993-Present: Manager and senior auctioneer for RJ’s Auction Service. 1988-Present: An adviser to RJ’s Discount Sales, a salvage and surplus business representing many of the major nationwide department store chains.
PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT: RJ’s Auction Service maintains a research library and subscribes to numerous antique and collectible publications. In February of 2002, Richard was elected to the Board of Directors for the Kansas Auctioneers Association (KAA), where he served as chairman of the Legislative and Promotion Committees until January of 2005. In April of 2006 Richard was asked to fill a vacancy on the Board of Directors of the KAA. He again chaired the Legislative Committee and was a member of the Long Range Planning and Policy Committees. Richard attends national and state conventions, trade shows, and seminars held by these professional associations, of which he is a member in good standing.
