Don Hochstetler was born in Clay City Indiana in 1960. In 1965 his family moved Plainfield. He graduated from Plainfield High School in May 1978. After working in the family business for 2 years he attended Piedmont Bible College & Missionary Aviation Institute in Winston-Salem NC in 1980. There he received his commercial pilot’s license IFR, his A & P mechanics license all while working on his Bachelors Degree. In 1983 he married his childhood sweetheart Connie Hettle. In 1989, he returned to Plainfield Indiana where he opened up an Allstate Insurance office. Don got his Auctioneers license in 1996 and went to work for several local auction barns in the evenings and weekends. In August 2000 he sold his Allstate office and went to work for Jack Lawson, Lawson & Co., where he was their Personal Property Manager for 8 years. “The lessons I have learned from Jack and Bob Lawson are without a doubt priceless. They taught me not only the right way to do business in the auction industry, but also the moral and ethical way”. “Remember the golden rule”, Bob says, “Do unto others as you would have others do unto you”.
With over 24 years of experience in marketing and selling, Don is our Lead Auctioneer. Don also holds his Real Estate license which allows him to represent you in marketing and liquidating both your real estate and personal property. Don is also a full time Firefighter for Wayne Township Fire Department in Indianapolis. He has been with them since 1992. Every 3rd day you will find him on the big red fire truck. Don and Connie reside in Stilesville, IN with their 3 children Jena, Derek & Daniel who all help out at the auctions.
