2023 FAMOUS FOR THE 4TH Pie Auction FUNdraiser

Colonel Larry Hacker conducted another SUCCESSFUL auction in the SW Missouri town of Rich Hill, Missouri. ONCE AGAIN ... this little community endorsed their 4th of July tag of "FAMOUS FOR THE 4TH" by driving their annual Pie Contest/Pie Auction total even HIGHER than had ever been attained previously!This FUNdraiser began approximately 20 years ago with the intentions of "helping" raise funds for "NEXT YEAR'S" 4th of July celebration. And over the years it's grown in popularity AND support. In it's infancy a $100 pie was exciting. Then in 2008 a pie brought $400 and everyone thought it would never be beat. But, in 2012 a Guinness World Record attempt for the "Highest priced pie sold at auction" was set when one pie brought $3100! Each year, this community's residents have pushed that figure, and the total raised, HIGHER and HIGHER!This year's event consisted of 52 pies and raised over $44,000, with the First Place pie bringing $6,500. Following the pie auction, a handmade quilt featuring past "Famous for the 4th" tee shirts brought $2,100 for the 4th of July Committee to use toward next years celebration, which will again feature a FREE CONCERT by a Nashville entertainer! And following the quilt, a local artist donated a painting of his to benefit a newly formed group for community betterment projects. That painting brought $5,000 for that group.This event has been a roadmap for successful FUNdraisers and is a credit to many who have cultivated such a successful AUCTION event!
