Howdy all!

A quick question: What are some funny catch phrases you say or have heard by an Auctioneer in their opening statements? One thing I say after all the "rules" are laid out and before the auction gets underway is " Do we have any announcements, birthdays, anniversarys or divorces we need to celebrate?" This usually brings a good laugh and helps to set the tone of the crowd but I would like to alternate it. :)

Thanks!

Sherry

1. This is a fundraising auction. We are here tonight to have and raise funds funds for a great cause. It's a win-win situation. The more you spend the more the charity benefits and the more you can write off as a charitable tax deduction.

2. I am an affirmative auctioneer. I do not understand the word "No" only an affirmative "Yes."

( After I have explained that they need to raise their bid in the air in order to bid)

Ladies and Gentlemen, I know I talk fast. If you need me to slow down, hold your bid card up and I'll slow down a bit!

Also:

Look around the room at everyone here ladies and gentlemen, because they just became your enemy! I am the only freind you have for the next 20 minutes!

"Ladies and Gentlemen, I am your auctioneer tonight. First we need to go over some training. Everyone Raise your right hand."

They raise their right hand.

"A little higher"

They struggle to raise them a bit higher.

"Congratulations - you have graduated the Blue Hound Auctions how to bid institute. Graduation ceremonies begin now!"

I love to start off an auction with the following:

Ladies and Gentlemen, each of you was given a paddle (or a number) when you came in, Do me a favor, hold them up. (As the audiences puts them up in the air) I say to my Ringmaster "Rande, you may get an easy night, these folks know the bidding process! However, ladies and gentlemen, if you don't think that the people around you are using the paddles enough, please get any of the Ringmaster's or my attention and we will be happy to assist them with increasing the paddle activity.

I also will say something similar to the earlier response "If you don't understand what I am saying, keep the paddle in the air and I'll fill you before the next item sells" This always brings a laugh.

During the Auction, If A bidder Slows Down, I like to Say "Don't Worry about How Much Your Spending, Our Cashier is Keeping Track For You" Seems To always Get A Laugh.

I'll Have to TRy Some of the Others Already Listed, I like Them.
