If anyone else has been disappointed with some of the existing price guides like NADA and CPI, you might want to take a look at a newer one called "Cars That Matter." They cover a lot of makes and models (all post-1945) and their values for #1 and #2 condition cars seem to be more in line with what the cars are actually bringing at auction. You can also get their prices sent to you via your cell phone if you're at an auction without a price guide. I believe that the URL is http://www.carsthatmatter.com.

Also if you go to cars.com (classified site) you sign in and get pricing on older cars as well.

NADA just charged for new updated guide due to Japan disaster, claiming price adjustments were necessary.......will be interesting how they charge subscribers next.
Instead of just providing update NADA charged for new service guide.
This info was from my tag & title man.

I thought I'd throw my two cents in on this post.
The link that Ryan provided to Hagerty's is somewhat limited on the models that it lists.
As far as Chas Epp's post, I find it to be questionable... the website he suggested does not provide used and/or collector car prices. Instead, the website has a link to Kelly Blue Book for looking up such values.

Now, as far as the link in Chas' signature, I would point out that it is nothing more than an Affiliate link that is promoting someone else's garbage on how to buy and making a fortune from storage units (selling on eBay, of course). Save your money... when it comes to learning about auctions, it's best to stick with asking auctioneers that have been in the business a while and you can find plenty of them right here on AuctionZip.

When it comes to price guides for cars, it's usually best to stick with those that are known for what they have been doing for years, i.e. NADA & Kelly.

I agree NADA & Kelly still are the standard, but I find it hard to believe they (NADA) would pass on the cost of a "new" guide to their customers after it simply replaced the "unusable" guide they had just printed and charged subscribers for. Usually updates are absorbed, it will be interesting how new values are impacted and handled. Some responsibility remains with charging for & printing a useable guide.

These other sites mentioned seem to be limited ie: Oldsmobile goes to 1987 and stops, etc. Before switching to companies and products that are "Spammed" through Auctionzip by individuals promoting web sites---Flags go up... and myself, I find that I usually discard said advise from such sources.
Let's keep Auctionzip the resource it is and keep Spammers at bay.
I am impressed by the other Auctioneers that provide additional insight and exposure to our profession.
