If I recently obtained my auctioneer license and I am thinking about getting my real estate license in order to auction real estate do I just need a real estate sales license or do I need a real estate brokers license in the state of Florida? I am getting mixed answers. Thanks so much for your help.

Laura,
I do not know the law in Florida. I am an auctioneer in Maryland considering auctioning real estate myself. I was thinking it may be a possibility to get my real estate license and then work under a real estate broker. I have not yet found out the legality of that yet or if a broker would allow that or not. Good luck to you, please let me know what you find out, I am curious. Thanks

Laura:

My understanding of Florida law is if the auctioneer is obtaining the listing or assisting with completing ANY of the paperwork, they must hold at the least an RE salespersons license.

Auctions of real estate in the state of Florida MUST be done under the supervision of a properly licensed broker. If you need an auction broker please contact me I know a few and don't get paid for putting people together, its a courtesy thing.

Mitch:

We are located in Maryland and looking for auction listing agents to bring us deals and work the auctions with us on a commission split.

Guess what type of license you need to sell real estate at auction in MD?

NONE

That's right with the exception of 3 counties and Baltimore City there are no license requirements in the State of Maryland and that includes real estate.

Give me a call or send an e-mail if you want our training materials or to work together.
