VIRGINIA CIVIL WAR MILITARY OATH, "Oath Prescribed by Act of July 2, 1862" swearing the signer, Roach of Pittsylvania County, Virginia, had "never voluntarily borne arms against the United States since I have been a citizen thereof", with signature dated May 17, 1869 and stamped "Headquarters Received. May 22 1869 First Military District." Housed under glass in a modern frame. Dated 1869. 7 3/4" x 9 3/4" sight, 8 3/4" x 10 3/4" OA.

    Condition:
  • Good condition with fingerprints at bottom and lower right corner. Frame with minor wear. Not examined out of frame.
