  • Note:
The history of this world-respected family of German goldsmiths starts with Theodor Heiden I (1812-1865); first apprenticing with an established family of jewelers in Munich, he would travel throughout Europe collecting important commissions and refining his skills as a chaser and engraver until returning to Munich and gaining citizenship and opening his own shop in 1850. The family's significance would grow exponentially under the administration of Theodor I's sons, Theodor II and Max: the former choosing Vienna as residence for studying the German Renaissance - where he would meet Anton Johann Nepomuk Seder (1850-1916), another Münchner and artistic polymath with whom he would frequently collaborate. Purportedly, Prince Leopold of Bavaria (1846-1930) would be their first customer and under the auspices of Ludwig II "The Fairy Tale King" (1845-1886) Theodor II would receive many commissions for Historicist silver to better define their distinctive style - many of which would be exhibited nationally and internationally to earn further commendations, most notably a Royal Bavarian Court Title in 1897. The story of this family continues today with each generation having brought their own unique contribution towards the longevity of this firm of goldsmiths.

Weschler's would like to thank Maximilian Heiden (Effective Director, 2000-Present) for confirming the attribution of this work.
