Francis Wharton Stork Philadelphia Sculpture sold as an attribution as signature appears to be F. Stork in moderate script and technique appears to be much like a Francis Stork sandstone sculpture offered at the time of this posting by Garden Accents Gallery of Montgomery County, Pennsylvania based on their online catalogue image. Depicts a standing likely shepard with likely a stylized lamb in his arms and a stylized dog at his feet, carved wood, 28.5 inches high x 9 inches wide x 9 inches deep, signed at base at the right side of the subject F. S..... Stork was a great great nephew of Joseph Wharton and the son of Penn and Harvard poet Wharton Stork. Francis Stork studied undergraduate and graduate art at Temple, ref. Woodmere Art Museum and Wiki. His works appear to be rare. While an attribution a compelling composition. Provenance: Estate of Greater New York collectors retired to a Greater Palm Beach penthouse, name witheld by heirs. One of ten lots from the collection in this sale.

  • Even warm patina, vertical age splits, visible base chips, scattered generally light scratches.
