**Originally Listed At $1200**

Native American, Southern United States, Missouri, Late Archaic period, ca. 2000 to 1000 BCE (4000 to 3000 BP). A pair of hand-knapped stone blades made of a creamy white chert stone in the form of Sedalia points. Both are similarly formed with an elongated body and exhibit an excurvate shape with the broadest area just above the blade’s midpoint. One has a slightly curved profile with a rounded base end, and the other blade is flat with a straight base. Knapped tools like these Sedalia blades are made using percussion - striking the pieces with other stones - a process that requires training and skill to form the desired shape. These are nicely displayed in a Riker case. Size of blade: 6" L x 1.25" W (15.2 cm x 3.2 cm); Size of case: 12.125" L x .75" W x 8.125" H (30.8 cm x 1.9 cm x 20.6 cm)

Provenance: private Kansas City, Missouri, USA collection, ex-John Townsend collection, formed in the 1970s and earlier
