Egypt, Romano-Egyptian Period, ca. 30 BCE to 2nd century CE. A glazed pottery crucible cup used for heating and combining different ingredients to compose various metal alloys. This mastoid-shaped cup features a spherical body, a squat rim, and a petite handle, all above a conical protrusion along the bottom. The exterior surfaces are covered in glaze of mottled hues. Size: 2.125" L x 1.75" W x 2.25" H (5.4 cm x 4.4 cm x 5.7 cm)
