Lot 50: 1865 Brooklyn Atlantics CDV (261 views)

1865 Brooklyn Atlantics CDV
Estimate: $40,000 - $50,000
Description: Original 1865 CDV Brooklyn Atlantics CDV by C.H. Williamson's Gallery Brooklyn New York, authenticated and slabbed by SGC Grading and Authentication Services. This is a historic piece of Americana/Baseball history, depicting the Brooklyn Atlantics which were widely considered the first dynasty in professional sports. This is considered by many to be the very first baseball card as the Atlantics had them printed in order to hand out to opposing teams and their fans as a show of bravado. This is from a unique negative that has never been seen before and features vignette processing. It is thought that this negative was produced as a stereo pair to be used in conjunction with the other negative, which features a CDV held in the Library of Congress. When both this and the Library of Congress version are viewed side by side with a stereo optic viewer, the image becomes three dimensional. This is a once and a lifetime opportunity to own a one of a kind item that the market has never seen previously.
