Egypt, New Kingdom to Third Intermediate Period, 18th to 25th Dynasty, ca. 1550 to 664 BCE. Hand-carved alabaster jar exemplifies the refined craftsmanship of ancient Egypt. Its form tapers gracefully to a flattened base with rounded edges while the translucent alabaster showcases mesmerizing wavy graining that comes alive when illuminated from within. Such jars were highly prized in antiquity, often used to hold precious oils, perfumes, or ceremonial offerings. The natural beauty of the stone, combined with its elegant shape, reflects the aesthetic sensibilities and technical skill of Egyptian artisans during this era. Alabaster vessels like this were not only functional but also held symbolic significance, often associated with purity and ritual use. Size: 3.5" W x 4.25" H (8.9 cm x 10.8 cm)
