Native American, Western United States, Plains Tribes, likely Lakota / Dakota (Sioux) or Cheyenne, ca. late 19th to early 20th century CE. A handmade rawhide and beaded doll of a warrior man in traditional war shirt regalia: fringed tunic, pants, and moccasins, all decorated with glass seed beads. The triangular neck beading signifies warrior status, and a beaded necklace with a petite tooth is strung around his neck. Buffalo hair is attached to the scalp, and the doll is densely stuffed with cotton, and wool scraps. Size: 9.75" L x 3.5" W (24.8 cm x 8.9 cm); 10.5" H (26.7 cm) on included custom stand.

    Condition:
  • Stiffening to leather, with losses to fringe, small holes through the leather, and staining. Fraying to threads, and small tears to seams, revealing the interior stuffing on left leg, and missing beadwork to this area. Leather fringe on arms and legs is delicate. Most beading is intact and the hair is intact. Great signs of age and comes with a custom display stand.
