A Springfield Trapdoor rifle dated as 1878 manufacture. It has kept its dark finish to the barrel and receiver with only some very light pitting to the outside of the barrel. The walnut stock is in fine condition with some dings throughout and one significant chip to the left of the receiver tang. The inside of the barrel and chamber were given a thick coating of protective grease which left them in near perfect condition. The sights include a simple front blade and a fully adjustable rear sight with multiple notches and apertures. Head of hammer screw has broken off, hammer is still threaded on shaft but has come out of alignment. Overall good condition. BBL: 33", OAL: 52", Caliber: .45-70 Gov't, S/N: 444715
