Taino. Pre-Columbian. Long snail-like shell depicts at large an interlocking bird head symbol that covers the main part of the shell. The swirls in the eyes of the bird heads appear to be coiled snakes. There is a head engraved on the second spiral bulge as well as the first. Length 6.5 inches. Taino Culture. circa 600 - 1500 AD.
