Lot 3180: Antique & Vintage THEATER & MOVIE PROGRAMS Stage Playbills Film Ice Follies (129 views)

Antique & Vintage THEATER & MOVIE PROGRAMS Stage Playbills Film Ice Follies
Estimate: $70 - $200
Details: This absorbing collection of antique and vintage theater, movie, and concert ephemera offers some wonderful highlights, such as a program from Cecil B. De Mille's 1923 epic, "The Ten Commandments;" a 1950 program from Radio City Music Hall featuring "On the Town" with Frank Sinatra and Gene Kelly; and a 1943 Army Air Forces program from the Moss Hart play, "Winged Victory." Still, the most charming item is definitely the 1907 program from the 25th anniversary banquet of the Kenilworth Bowling Club. The program is decorated with a pretty lavender silk grosgrain ribbon, and the banquet offered baron of lamb at the Hotel Knickerbocker.

Also offered in this lot are programs from classic films, such as Fellini's "La Dolca Vita," and "The Red Shoes;" Broadway musicals ("Hellzapoppin," 1938) and many playbills dating from 1919 into the 1950s. Some of these contain surprises, such as the appearance in 1945 of Marlon Brando as Nels in "I Remember Mama," and the 1935 production of Billy Rose's "Jumbo" at the New York Hippodrome, starring Jimmy Durante. Programs for plays with Claudette Colbert and Katherine Hepburn are also in this lot, as well as Sonja Henie and Ice Follies productions from 1939.
