Swedish Gustavian Giltwood Pier MIrror

ca. 1800, the pierced tablet decorated with carved scrollwork and flowerheads framing a neoclassical roundel with blue-and-white decoration, the egg-and-dart-carved cornice set with a pierced bowknot crest, the mirror with a ribbon-bound and reeded surround, the bottom with a panel matching the top.

  • **In overall very good condition. The gilt surfaces exhibit rubbing, quality restorations, wear and scattered small losses to the gilt. Rubbing to the polychromed panel.

    The mirror plate appears to be a quality replacement. It is generally clear and crisp with subtle irregularities in the silvering, and a few thin lines that give the appearance of an old mirror.
