A Japanese lacquer box with a phoenix depicted on the lid. The interior features flowers with mother of pearl inlay and a removable shelf. Dimensions: 4 1/4 inches tall X 9 1/2 inches wide X 11 3/4 inches deep; 10.8 cm tall X 24.1 cm wide X 29.8 cm deep. All measurements are approximate.

  • Provenance: Acquired by William H. Fippin at the end of WWII.
  • Condition: Cracking to the edges and corners of the exterior. The removable shelf has cracking. The bottom of the box has a large crack.
