Two good examples:

1. The darker bare iron example with nice patina lettered DOG TRAY NUTCRACKER top of the base which is cast in openwork, and further lettered HARPER SUPPLY CO. NO. CHICAGO PAT APL'D on the underside of the base.

2. A rare example on scalloped footed base in old silver paint.
