John Runne (American, XXI). "Montana Moon" acrylic on canvas board, n.d. Signed (artist's initials) at lower right. A striking painting by John Runne depicting his bold vision of a Montana landscape with the moon beyond under a starlit sky, "Montana Moon" is a rather unusual find as most Runne works sold on the secondary market are prints. Runne renders the dramatic landscape in a painterly manner with vibrant hues of violet, vermilion, and ruby set against a bright yellow moon, with golden stars residing in the pitch black night sky above. He even embellished the frame with wonderful copper highlights on the inner molding. Whimsical and delightfully colorful! Size (painting): 11.75" L x 8.875" W (29.8 cm x 22.5 cm) Size (frame): 16.2" L x 13.25" W (41.1 cm x 33.7 cm)
