A splendid Greco-Persian stone scaraboid featuring the image of a bird perched atop the back of a panther, all set in a Neoclassical gilt silver swivel ring. Carved into creamy beige stone, the ferocious feline strides right, its sinuous tail trailing behind as the bird sits with wings folded on its back. Size of scaraboid: 0.8" L x 0.6" W (2 cm x 1.5 cm); of ring: 1.2" L x 0.9" W (3 cm x 2.3 cm); US ring size: 8; silver quality: 79.3%; weight: 6.3 grams
