The skull fluted and composed of a notably good quality for a later piece features two piece skull, three rear fluted lower gorget plates, the visor cut with horizonal breaths and notched with resting arm to bevor. The gorget is composed of multiple fluted lames and connects to the rear section with slotted rivets. Noth pauldrons with reinforcing defenses and fluted throughout, the left arm defense matching and homogenous with the exception of the counter guard which is removable on the left pauldron presumably for an interchangeable defense. The gauntlets and remainder of arm defenses fluted in the same style and well articulating. T breast and backplate associated with notable variations in fluting and embossed work, latch hooked at either side to one another. Fauld and tassets associated to remainder of suit and consisting of multiple lames and embossed plates with some rivets replaced or missing leg defenses in the traditional Maximilian style with embossed and roped decoration to all components with the exception of the greaves. Sabatons of the bear-paw style particularly wide and well articulating. The suit 71" H, stand included.

Armour of the Maximilian style was first fashioned after early clothing of the late 14th century and under the reign of Emperor Maximilian I. Initially two armor harnesses were produced for The Emperor after which their design resulted in not only a more fashionable style of armored harness but also more effective for field combat. The fluting incremental to the armors style resulted in an overall weight savings and strengthening of the plate armor, albeit at great cost. Maximilian armour thus was far superior to prior forms of armor harness and for those that could commission such a harness saw wide spread popularity until it's decline in the late 16th century. After which even for the wealthiest of nation builders and nobility Maximilian armour was out of reach. During the later periods armour and it's study the term Maximilian style armor became popular.
