Egypt, Late Dynastic period, 26th to 31st Dynasty, ca. 672 to 332 BCE. A fascinating bronze scepter tip featuring a conical socket and a forked head with 2 tapering prongs that curve out and then in toward one another resembling the horns of an Apis bull. A rectangular band connects the prongs at about one-third up their length, featuring very faint remains of incised, striped bands. Size: 0.7" L x 1.4" W x 8" H (1.8 cm x 3.6 cm x 20.3 cm); 9" H (22.9 cm) on included custom stand.

    Condition:
  • Professionally repaired with retouching over break lines and metal reinforcement on interior; all done very well and incredibly difficult to notice. Heavy surface wear and weathering, as commensurate with age as shown. Otherwise, very nice preservation of form, rich patina, and heavily encrusted surface. Old collection label on custom stand.
