Joseon Dynasty (1392-1910) Korean wheel thrown porcelain vase, with cobalt painted dragon among clouds, chasing a flaming pearl. The neck, shoulder and base are decorated with two bands of cobalt blue paint. Vessels of this type were first produced in the 15th century, the cobalt color required minerals to be imported from Iran across the Chinese subcontinent. It's known that jars like these being expensive to make, would be owned by a royal household prior to the 18th century. Size 12 5/8" H
