1958 Typed Letter Signed by President Dwight D. Eisenhower who Thanks a Friend for Giving him Crabs!
DWIGHT D. EISENHOWER (1890-1969). 34TH President of the United States (1953-1961); During World War II he served as Supreme Commander of the Allied Expeditionary Forces in Europe, achieved the Five-Star rank as General of the Army.
June 6, 1958-Dated Typed Letter Signed, "D.E.", on his "DDE The White House" personal stationery, Choice fresh Extremly Fine. Letter is 1 page, measuring 7-1/8" x 10-3/8 with normal near invisible mailing folds and a small staple stain w/holes at top left. A lovely quality personal letter sent to his friend Edward "Ned" Burnham, thanking him for a supply of fine quality crabs. Eisenhower's letter reads, in full:
"Dear Ned: -- Since I can't come to the Burning Tree party tomorrow night, I particularly appreciate your kindness in bringing me a more than generous supply of one of the principal ingredients. I think those crabs are just about as fine as anything I know, and I am, as always, grateful to you. With warm regards, As ever, -- (Signed) D. E."
