Philippines, Iloilo, Panay Island, Panay Liberation Day March 18th 1945 Commemorative Filipino Bowie Knife or cross between a Panay Tenegre with sheath, circa 1945 or earlier. A large and well made knife with brutal leopard cat animalistic carved ebony wood handle with steel teeth and upturned tongue, steel eyed and affixed with cut grip and steel spots simulating leopard print, base of the grip is a brass socket and crossguard in the like ebonized wood with Crossguard in like construction with opposing direction quillion. Blade inscribed "Panay-Iloilo 1945" bowie knife style with a hard heavy back and tapered downturned forward section, single edged blade on lower side with downturned top section sharpened to a edge as well. Sheath inscribed with "ILOILO" & "PANAY" above and below the Filipino Incised floret also with "Philippines" & "Okinawa" incised to either side, constructed of wood with silvered bands and incised and in bright steel. 13" L, blade 7 1/8" L
