A Chinese house-shaped ceramic jar possibly dating from the Song dynasty. The upper portion of the jar features molded figures positioned around step-roofed houses. Birds perch on the different levels of roofs, and the uppermost house has guardian lions protecting the doorway. The body of the jar itself has molded decorations of horses with flaming wheels and bats. A wax export seal has been placed between the guardian lions. Dimensions are: 12 3/4 inches tall X 8 inches wide, 32.4 cm X 20.3 cm. All measurements are approximate.
