Description: Ca. 1830; 24.25in in height 16.5 wide 11in in depth, top with molding measure 17. 7/8 wide, 11.5 depth, bracket feet measure 18.75in wide 12in in depth, outstanding example, walnut primary wood, popular secondary woods, southern yellow pine back, dovetail case and cut nails construction, has four graduated draws with diamond inlaid key escutcheons, top draw has four part divider, all draws have original locks, chest has beautiful 3 quarter round columns with satin wood spiral inlay vine, chest is supported by beautiful pronounce Ogee bracket feet, 3rd draw is signed on bottom in pencil J C M, has decal from restoration Greensboro NC, notation says this is now 100 years old May 22 1930 worked over, after close inspection of chest two of the original feet have restoration, otherwise chest has beautiful medium brown surface finish throughout and is structurally sound, has a two board horizontal back with hand made cut nails, chest also has original spun brass pulls, this example of early piedmont NC furniture is rare and important, we encourage all collectors to come and view this object, thank you Provenance: Southern Pines NC Collection
