This is a 1920 first edition of Baldy of Nome by Esther Birdsall Darling, published by The Penn Publishing Company, Philadelphia. The book tells the story of the legendary sled dog Baldy and his adventures in the icy wilderness. This unique copy features Baldy’s paw print, marked as “His Mark” and witnessed by “Scotty Allan,” alongside a handwritten inscription by the author dated August 17, 1920. The inscription reads: "Mr. Ryland with best wishes, with the hope that 'Baldy of Nome' may awaken your interest in the wonderful sled dogs of the North, who served as faithfully on the blood-stained fields of Alsace as now they serve in the white trails of Alaska — with a strength and willingness that won for them the Cross of War of France." The hardcover is bound in blue cloth with a color pictorial onlay of Baldy and decorative white and gilt embellishments on the cover and spine.

Condition
Good to very good condition overall. The blue cloth binding shows minor wear along the edges and corners. The pages are clean, with a firm binding. The paw print and inscription are well-preserved.
