ANTHONY C. MCAULIFFE Signed Photograph U.S. Army General Who Told the Germans "NUTS" Regarding the Surrender of Bastogne during the Battle of the Bulge
GENERAL ANTHONY C. MCAULIFFE (July 2, 1898 - August 11, 1975). U.S. Army officer best known for his leadership during World War II. He is most famous for his role in the Battle of the Bulge, where, as acting Division Commander of the 101st Airborne Division, he famously responded "Nuts!" to a German surrender demand.

With official Printed copyright and Department of the Army credits that appear in light blue on the blank reverse. General Anthony Clement McAuliffe (July 2, 1898 - August 11, 1975) was the U.S. Army general who commanded the defending 101st Airborne troops during the Battle of Bastogne, Belgium, during the Battle of the Bulge in World War II. He is famous for his single-word reply to a German surrender ultimatum: "Nuts!" This terse reply became emblematic of American resolve and defiance during the war.
