2006-2008 Zimbabwe 10 Million Dollars (ZWN) Hyperinflation Banknote P# 55a Grades Select AU. Hyperinflation in Zimbabwe is an ongoing crisis. While yearly inflation was often measured in the hundreds of percentage points in the early 2000s, from 2007 to 2008 it was measured in the millions, and then trillions. The first Zimbabwean dollar (ZWD) was abandoned in 2005 and replaced with the second (ZWN). The second had to be abandoned again in August 2008, and its replacement currency (ZWR) became obsolete due to ongoing hyperinflation only 6 months later, resulting in a third replacement currency (ZWL). The ZWL was formally demonetised in 2015, and Zimbabwe generally relies on a variety of foreign currencies for local trade.
