This is a 1927 edition of Songs of Experience by William Blake, printed from a copy housed at the British Museum. Originally published in 1794, Songs of Experience built upon Blake's earlier work, Songs of Innocence, contrasting the themes of innocence and experience.

Blake employed an innovative technique in creating this work, engraving copperplates in relief and then painting each plate by hand. This unique process combined his poetic verse with his distinctive illustrative style, resulting in one of his most beautiful and enduring collections.

The black cloth binding features intricate gilt decoration along the edges and spine, labeled "Blake's Songs of Experience." Inside, the vibrant, hand-colored illuminated plates accompany each poem, including famous pieces like "The Garden of Love" and "The Fly."
