Includes A New and Accurate Map of Mexico or New Spain together with California New Mexico, A New and Accurate Map of Louisiana, with Part of Florida and Canada and the Adjacent Countries Drawn from Surveys, assisted by the most approved English & French Maps & Charts, A New and Accurate Map of the Provinces of North & South Carolina Georgia, A New and Accurate Map of Virginia & Maryland Laid Down from Surveys and Regulated by Astronl. Observations, A New and Accurate Map of New Jersey, Pennsylvania, New York and New England with adjacent Countries Drawn from Surveys, assisted by the most approved Modern Maps & Charts, A New & Accurate Map of the Islands of Newfoundland, Cape Briton, St. John and Anticosta, Particular Draughts and Plans of some of the Principal Towns and Harbours belonging to English, French, and Spaniards, in America. The atlas also includes a series of regional maps of Africa, including one which has been recognized as being of greater importance recently, namely, A New & Accurate Map of Negroland and the Adjacent Countries. Measures 17.5 x 12 inches. Most in the atlas are in good condition or better. There are a dozen or so with tears and one with some paper loss. Binding Copy, front cover, endsheet and title page are detached. There are NO library book card pockets affixed unless photographed and/or disclosed otherwise. Many simply have a BSC bookplate inside front cover only. Majority of the more important books have no evidence or markings of traditional library ownership. Some have slight damage on the base of spine from removal of a sticker or label. Additionally, some have a black band painted to spine to deter theft or removal. These books were stored shelved in a locked special collections room called the "wood room". Provenance: Birmingham-Southern College collection. After 168 years Birmingham-Southern College has ceased normal operations. Birmingham-Southern College traces its roots back to 1856, the year the Alabama Legislature chartered Southern University as a Methodist institution. If lot is absent of a condition report one may be requested via email. Condition report is provided as an opinion only and is no guarantee as condition can be subjective. Buyer must view photographs or scans to assist in determining condition and ask further questions if so desired. If your invoice is for multiple items, we will use our discretion on requiring the use of an outside shipper. We reserve the right to require an outside shipper on any item(s) in the auction even if not stated.
