Print Size: 16” wide by 24” tall black & white print on Kodak Ektalure G Surface Paper. Frame Size: 23.5” wide by 31.5” tall (Solid wood highly detailed frame, archival acid free mattes and gallery glass). Original Photographer: Phillip Sarno. Original Date of Print Processed: 1997. Additional Description: This never published or publicly seen image was taken by photojournalist Phillip Sarno at Ebbets Field in October of 1952, just before a Brooklyn Dodger vs. New York Yankee World Series game. Sarno captured this iconic moment, as Jackie Robinson invited a group of Little Leaguer’s onto the field for a photograph, during batting practice. Jerome Holtzman – Official Historian of Major League Baseball once stated, “That Sarno photograph is as close to an artwork by Norman Rockwell, as I’ve ever seen ! Simply incredible !”. Only two copies like this Sarno image have ever been produced. The other was sent to the National Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum in Cooperstown, New York. From the Bobby O'Neill collection.

Additional Description: This artist's works are highly sought after by collectors, but are rarely available for sale. Salomon’s sports collages have been exhibited in top galleries and museums since the early 1990’s. They include prestigious venues like: the MLB Hall of Fame & Museum in Cooperstown, The Babe Ruth Museum in Baltimore, Maryland, The Yogi Berra Museum in New Brunswick, New Jersey, The Al Lopez Museum in Tampa, Florida. Authorized by John-Henry Williams, Ted’s son. The flawless Babe Ruth signature is blue foil embossed, deep in to the photograph. Additional Description: This incredible image of Ted Williams and Babe Ruth was taken at a War Bonds fundraiser game at Fenway Park in 1943, with full details on the included metal plate. This is one of the only two color photographs ever taken of Babe Ruth in his lifetime. Although Ruth only wore New York Yankee uniform with pinstripes throughout his career, this is also the only photo ever taken of him wearing the famous “NY” logo on the chest of his uniform. Sarno captured this iconic moment, as Jackie Robinson invited a group of Little Leaguer’s onto the field for a photograph, during batting practice. Jerome Holtzman – Official Historian of Major League Baseball once stated, “That Sarno photograph is as close to an artwork by Norman Rockwell, as I’ve ever seen ! Simply incredible !”. During this game against Boston College, Mayes had two receptions for 56 yards. During the halftime of this game, the final game sequences for the Tri-Star motion picture “Rudy” were filmed, while the actual players for both teams were in the locker room. Upon conclusion of the lopsided Notre Dame victory, Tri-Star crew member Dick Sayers (who was still on the ND sidelines) asked Mayes for a souvenir and was given his game used gloves.
