His career spanned the French Revolution, First Empire and Restoration periods. Ansiaux studied at the Académie Royale de Peinture in Paris under François-André Vincent (1746–1816), who considered Ansiaux one of his best students. He exhibited at the Salon in Paris, and during the French Revolution became a member of the "Societe Populaire et Republicaine des Arts". Collections: Musée national, Versailles; Musée des Beaux-arts, Lille; Nantes; Bordeaux; Fécamp.

Ribot Catalogue note: Germain Théodore Ribot was born in Paris to the painter Augustin-Théodule Ribot (1823-1891). He began his artistic training under his father and later studied under the painter Antoine Vollon (1833-1900). Germain, the son, focused on still life paintings and exhibited at the salon of the Société des Artistes Français from 1870 to 1888. His works were initially influenced by his father's dark palette but later became lighter and brighter and reminiscent of the still lifes of Henri Fantin-Latour.

Hue painted 18th-century style genre scenes and often drew inspiration from the works of Jean Jacques Rousseau and Antoine François Prévost for subjects.

IVOR ROBERT- JONES BRITISH, 1913-1996 MAQUETTE FOR THE WINSTON CHURCHILL MONUMENT IN PARLIAMENT SQUARE Bronze, together with a concrete base marked CHURCHILL stamped number '119', with foundry pastille of MERIDIAN LONDON BRONZE (2) Conceived and cast between 1971-74, the present work is number 119 from the edition of 1500. Literature: See Peter Cannon-Brookes, Ivor Roberts-Jones, Trefoli Books, London, 1983, pp. 51-59 Ivor Robert-Jones was born in Shropshire, U.K. and educated at Goldsmiths' College (now the University of London) and the Royal Academy of Arts. He served in the Royal Artillery during World War II, and fought during the Burma Campaign. After the War, he had a studio in London and taught at Goldsmiths' from 1946–73. His first solo exhibition was with Beaux Arts Gallery in 1954. He carried out a notable series of commissions of portraits of the famous including HRH The Prince of Wales, now King Charles III. In 1971 he was commissioned to produce the full-length statue of Winston Churchill which now stands in Parliament Square, London. The monument was unveiled in 1973 by Lady Churchill in the presence of the Queen, and brought Robert-Jones widespread acclaim. His inspiration was a 1941 photograph of Churchill visiting the bombed out House of Commons (along with Rodin's sculpture of Balzac). Ivor Robert-Jones became a full member of the Royal Academy in 1973. His works are in numerous public collections including the National Portrait Gallery, the Victoria & Albert Museum, and the Fitzwilliam Museum. Christie's London, 18 December 2014, sold number '137' for $43,750 (estimate $6,000-8,000).

He was a very sensitive child and by the age of four had already presented neurotic symptoms with phobias and deep depressions. In large part, these were caused by a violent father and a neurotic and deeply religious mother. When he was eight he was emotionally affected by the horrors of the Mexican Revolution. At the age of 14 he entered the Academia de San Carlos (Mexico's art academy) and studied with German Gedovius and Roberto Montenegro. He studied there and also traveled to Paris, Italy and England to study. For a while he lived in Los Angeles and worked as a poster illustrator in Hollywood. He is best known for his paintings of the Mexican children. He lived most of his adult life in the same section of Mexico City and often painted the markets and people of the streets.

WILLIAM DANIELL BRITISH, 1769-1837 IN FINGAL'S CAVE, STAFFA FROM A VOYAGE ROUND GREAT BRITAIN, 1817 Aquatint Catalogue note: William Daniell's depictions of Fingal's Cave on the Isle of Staffa are among the most celebrated visual records of the Scottish Inner Hebrides of the 19th century. Daniell visited the remote island of Staffa as part of his monumental 'A Voyage Round Great Britain' (1817–1818). He published several hand-colored aquatints focusing on Staffa, including the famous Exterior of Fingal's Cave and In Fingal's Cave.
