Turners are members of German-American gymnastic clubs called Turnvereine. They promoted German culture, physical culture, and liberal politics. Turners, especially Francis Lieber (1798–1872), were the leading sponsors of gymnastics as an American sport and the field of academic study. Apparatus turning was included in the Olympic Games from 1896-1924.

57 - ca 1906 Sears Roebuck & Co Stereoview Cards Set 50 A Trip through Sears Roebuck & Co. Complete set of 50 stereoview cards and box depicting the life inside the Sears and Roebuck Catalog plant in Chicago, ca 1906. Some extra stereoviews are included. Stain to the card as shown. "There is some evidence that the photos may have been taken by Fred Conley and James Drake, vice president and general manager, respectively, of the Conley Camera Company. The Conley Camera Company had begun serving as Sears' exclusive supplier of cameras a couple of years earlier. (Indeed, one of the stereo cards from this series is used in later catalogs as an example of an image made with a Conley Model XVIII stereo camera.) It is known that Conley and Drake traveled to Sears headquarters in Chicago in October, 1906, shortly before this series was released. However, unless it was an especially warm October, the light clothing and lush foliage depicted seem out of place for late autumn in the upper midwest. Whenever the photographs were taken, it was certainly no earlier than April, 1906, for that's when Sears' grand new administration building opened."

65 - WWII 1944 Jack Armstrong Tru-Flite Airplanes Model 8 WWII JACK ARMSTRONG TRU-FLITE AIRPLANES from 1944 through February 28, 1945. 7 are reproduced ca 1985. 1 (Jap Nakajima) appears original from 1944.. The airplanes came in pairs with a double sided instruction sheet on newsprint. Each side had the complete assembly instructions for the pair. The set of 2 came in an envelope mailer with the name of both airplanes on the front. The airplanes were meant to be cut out & pasted together with a penny in the nose.

Department of Interior, Office of Indian Affairs, Circular No.67. Washington D.C. May 10, 1881. Circular #67 explains the penalty for selling liquor to Indians which are considered wards of the Government. A drunken Indian is considered a savage and anyone who sells liquor to them will have a $300 fine plus 2 years imprisonment. "So far as Indian agents are concerned, it is very clearly their duty to protect the Government from this great cause of trouble and expense. The Indians are considered to be the wards of the Government, and a drunken Indian is a condensed and intensified savage let loose on the community to commit crimes..., and the man who sells or gives liquor to him, ...is an accessory before the fact to whatever crimes are committed traceable to that cause."Hiram Price was appointed chief clerk of the Bureau of Indian Affairs and then Commissioner of Indian Affairs by President James A. The parade stated at 10 am, with participating fire companies from nearby towns including Paterson, Passaic, and Clifton. The Paterson Morning Call September 5, 1900 "Labor Day in East Paterson" The paper reports that the celebration drew large crowds, with estimates ranging from 5,000 to 10,000 attendees. Labor Day was first celebrated in the U.S. in 1882 and by 1900, it had become a federal holiday. In the early 20th century, fire departments often played a central role in community events... Turners (German: Turner, German: ['t??n?] ?) are members of German-American gymnastic clubs called Turnvereine. They promoted German culture, physical culture, and liberal politics. George Frederic Cannons (1897-1972) was a Hollywood portrait photographer of the 1930s. Professionally known as Cannons of Hollywood. His reputation as a stills photographer was first established during the silent film period, whilst working for Mack Sennett from 1924. Cannons was the official photographer of Mack and specialised in portraits of Sennett's bathing beauties. Mr Cannons' services were sought by most of the prominent stars and players in Hollywood.

Appears silkscreened on cardboard, 14 x 22", From the estate of actor Gerry Burkhardt. The design of this poster, by artist Milton Glazer, for the 1972 Broadway musical, The Wiz, has as its central graphic the image of an African American woman, in full torso profile, with a swirling headdress. The image is based on a dancer in the original production, who simulated a tornado in a dance where she wore a long piece of black cloth worn on her head and suspended from the flies of the theater. The Wiz is based on the Frank Baum novel, The Wonderful Wizard of Oz. Performed by an all-African American cast, the show is infused with the sound of soul music and contemporary urban slang through the score by Charlie Smalls and script by William F. Brown. The B-36 is the largest mass-produced piston-engined aircraft ever built, although it was exceeded in span and weight by the one-off Hughes Hercules. It has the longest wingspan of any combat aircraft. The B-36 was capable of intercontinental flight without refueling. Literature: In 1869, Henri Catelin is on record at a Parisian atelier located on 34 Rue de Chabrol. He is also noted as an exhibitor at a number of salons through the 1870s. Christie’s, New York sold a Catelin signed portrait vase, 17 April, 2013, Lot 124.

A couple of bug parts need removal. Piet was a Dutch painter and art theoretician who is regarded as one of the greatest artists of the 20th century. He was one of the pioneers of 20th-century abstract art, as he changed his artistic direction from figurative painting to an increasingly abstract style, until he reached a point where his artistic vocabulary was reduced to simple geometric elements.Piet Mondrian was possibly best known for being one of the founders of the De Stijl, which incorporated an art movement that worked around abstract works, and the new art forms that were being introduced to the world in the early 20th century.

(Julien) Causse and with medallian: Fabrication Francaise, Paris, Made in France. Stiffel shade. The Lighting pole has detached from the body as shown. Silver plate on cast metal, 19 3/4" to finger tips and 35" to finial. Julien Caussé (also given as Cadet-Julien Caussé, Cadet Julien Caussé and Julien Cadet Caussé) (1869-1914). He was a prolific French sculptor during the Art Nouveau period of the late 19th and early 20th centuries who specialized in small figures. Caussé was born in Bourges, France and was active as sculptor from 1890 until his death in 1914. He studied under Alexandre Falguière and his works were exhibited at the Salon des Artists Francais in the 1890s, obtaining honorable mentions in 1882 and 1900 and a third class medal in 1893. He also took part in the Exposition Universelle of 1900.
