With the pattern's popularity came new reinterpretations over time, mutated by different makers including Robert Chamberlain, a former Worcester decorator and competing upstart that would eventually remerge, and Coalport, a highly-innovative pottery factory in neighboring Shropshire and steered by the Rose family for nearly a century. 'Bybel der Natuure' (Bible of Nature) Dutch/Latin Engraved Folio Two Volume Set Herman Boerhaave (1668-1738) after Jan Swammerdam (1637-1680), Leyden, 1737-1738 Note: Johannes Swammerdam, the child of an apothecary, would pursue a career in the study of medicine throughout continental Europe; however despite the best-wishes of his father, rather than collecting a regular income as a medical doctor he used his education as a means for applying the scientific method towards finding reason in the natural world. An advocate for microscopy and believer in René Descartes, he was among the earliest to propose different life-phases for insects (egg, larvae, et al.) and his study convinced him of there being far more beauty, grace and signs of divine influence in the minutiae of earth's smallest animals rather than prior reductionist theories of spontaneous generation or metamorphosis across species. Unfortunately, he would not live to see the completion of his life's work - surveying the anatomies across insect activities.

Declaring the Washington Color School movement dead, with art having been reduced to its most simplistic form of color, the event was intended to be a dramatic punctuation mark signaling the end of one movement, making way for the beginning of another. Gene Davis agreed to collaborate on the project with McGowin and Davis (no relation) along with select students from the Corcoran. Gene Davis created an original work he titled Popsicle and fifty replicas of the iconic stripe painting were created. Each member of the project took on a different role, from mixing paint to taping the canvases, with Gene Davis silk-screening signatures onto the back of each canvas once complete.
