An important figure in both Danish art and LGBTQ Women's History, Luplau is best known for her 1897 painting "From the First Days of the Woman's Suffrage Campaign" a depiction of a suffragette meeting led by her mother, Line Luplau, which hung for many years inside Danish Parliament. In 1886, Luplau and her partner Emilie Mundt founded an art school for women at their home in Copenhagen, where they trained many other artists of note, including Astrid Valborg Holm and Emilie Demant Hatt.
