Lot: 820 - 1952 Canada 10 Cents 10c KM-43 Grades xf
1952 Canada 10 Cents 10c KM-43 Grades xf. George VI (Albert Frederick Arthur George; 14 December 1895 6 February 1952) was King of the United Kingdom and the Dominions of the British Commonwealth from 11 December 1936 until his death in 1952. He was concurrently the last Emperor of India until August 1947, when India gained independence. The future George VI was born in the reign of his great-grandmother Queen Victoria; he was named Albert at birth after his great-grandfather Albert, Prince Consort, and was known as "Bertie" to his family and close friends. His father ascended the throne as King George V in 1910. As the second son of the king, Albert was not expected to inherit the throne. He spent his early life in the shadow of his elder brother, Prince Edward, the heir apparent. Albert attended naval college as a teenager and served in the Royal Navy and Royal Air Force during the First World War. In 1920, he was made Duke of York. He married Lady Elizabeth Bowes-Lyon in 1923, and they had two daughters, Elizabeth and Margaret. In the mid-1920s, he engaged speech therapist Lionel Logue to treat his stammer, which he learned to manage to some degree. His elder brother ascended the throne as Edward VIII after their father died in 1936, but Edward abdicated later that year to marry the twice-divorced American socialite Wallis Simpson; Albert thereby became the third monarch of the House of Windsor, taking the regnal name George VI.In September 1939, the British Empire and most Commonwealth countriesbut not Irelanddeclared war on Nazi Germany. War with the Kingdom of Italy and the Empire of Japan followed in 1940 and 1941, respectively. George VI was seen as sharing the hardships of the common people and his popularity soared. Buckingham Palace was bombed during the Blitz while the King and Queen were there, and his younger brother the Duke of Kent was killed on active service. George became known as a symbol of British determination to win the war. Britain and its allies were victorious in 1945, but the British Empire declined. Ireland had largely broken away, followed by the independence of India and Pakistan in 1947. George relinquished the title of Emperor of India in June 1948 and instead adopted the new title of Head of the Commonwealth. He was beset by smoking-related health problems in the later years of his reign and died of a coronary thrombosis in 1952. He was succeeded by his elder daughter, Elizabeth II.

***Auction Highlight*** PCGS 1937-d Boone Old Commem Half Dollar 50c Graded ms66 By PCGS. The Daniel Boone Half Dollar was minted to celebrate the 200th anniversary of the birth of the famous frontiersman, explorer, and folk hero. Originally, the coins were struck at the Philadelphia Mint to coincide with the bicentennial year. During the next four years, the coins would continue to be struck, across three different mint facilities. On the obverse of the coin is a portrait of Daniel Boone. Since no known portraits of him exist, this is an artists conception created by Augustus Lukeman. The likeness looks decidedly different than the portrait of Boone, which had appeared on the previous 1921 Missouri Centennial Half Dollar. The reverse of the coin features a scene of the frontiersman holding a chart of Kentucky and a musket, facing an American Indian holding a tomahawk. In the background a blockhouse stockade and a sun with rays appear. This was also designed by Augustus Lukeman. Out of the maximum authorized mintage of 600,000 coins, there were only 10,007 of the 1934 Daniel Boone Half Dollars produced and sold at a price of $1.60 each. In the following year, additional coins were struck at the Philadelphia, Denver, and San Francisco Mints carrying the 1935 date. Subsequent to the initial distribution, legislation was passed in Congress stipulating that the original design should be supplemented by adding the bicentennial year 1934 to the reverse of the coin. A smaller number of coins were minted with the small 1934 on reverse and came to represent a scarce variety.More coins continued to be minted and issued in 1936, 1937, and 1938. The final two years would have smaller net distribution levels as collectors began to grow weary of the endless string of varieties of the commemorative coin, issued years after the actual bicentennial. 1772-A Prussia 1/48 Thaler 1/48t KM-327 Grades g, good. Frederick II, byname Frederick the Great, German Friedrich der Grosse, (born January 24, 1712, Berlin, Prussia [Germany]died August 17, 1786, Potsdam, near Berlin), king of Prussia (174086), a brilliant military campaigner who, in a series of diplomatic stratagems and wars against Austria and other powers, greatly enlarged Prussias territories and made Prussia the foremost military power in Europe. An enlightened absolute monarch, he favored French language and art and built a French Rococo palace, Sanssouci, near Berlin.Frederick, the third king of Prussia, ranks among the two or three dominant figures in the history of modern Germany. Under his leadership Prussia became one of the great states of Europe. Its territories were greatly increased and its military strength displayed to striking effect. From early in his reign Frederick achieved a high reputation as a military commander, and the Prussian army rapidly became a model admired and imitated in many other states. He also emerged quickly as a leading exponent of the ideas of enlightened government, which were then becoming influential throughout much of Europe; indeed, his example did much to spread and strengthen those ideas. Notably, his insistence on the primacy of state over personal or dynastic interests and his religious toleration widely affected the dominant intellectual currents of the age. Even more than his younger contemporaries, Catherine II the Great of Russia and Joseph II in the Habsburg territories, it was Frederick who, during the mid-18th century, established in the minds of educated Europeans a notion of what enlightened despotism should be. His actual achievements, however, were sometimes less than they appeared on the surface; indeed, his inevitable reliance on the landowning officer (Junker) class set severe limits in several respects to what he could even attempt. Nevertheless, his reign saw a revolutionary change in the importance and prestige of Prussia, which was to have profound implications for much of the subsequent history of Europe.

1953 Lg Date Canada 25 Cents 25c KM-52 Grades AU Details. Elizabeth was born in Mayfair, London, as the first child of the Duke and Duchess of York (later King George VI and Queen Elizabeth). Her father acceded to the throne in 1936 upon the abdication of his brother, King Edward VIII, making Elizabeth the heir presumptive. She was educated privately at home and began to undertake public duties during the Second World War, serving in the Auxiliary Territorial Service. In November 1947, she married Philip Mountbatten, a former prince of Greece and Denmark, and their marriage lasted 73 years until Philip's death in 2021. They had four children: Charles, Prince of Wales; Anne, Princess Royal; Prince Andrew, Duke of York; and Prince Edward, Earl of Wessex. When her father died in February 1952, Elizabeththen 25 years oldbecame queen regnant of seven independent Commonwealth countries: the United Kingdom, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, Pakistan, and Ceylon, as well as Head of the Commonwealth. Elizabeth has reigned as a constitutional monarch through major political changes such as the Troubles in Northern Ireland, devolution in the United Kingdom, the decolonisation of Africa, and the United Kingdom's accession to the European Communities and withdrawal from the European Union. The number of her realms has varied over time as territories have gained independence, and as some realms have become republics. Her many historic visits and meetings include state visits to the People's Republic of China in 1986, the Russian Federation in 1994, the Republic of Ireland in 2011, and visits to or from five popes.Significant events have included Elizabeth's coronation in 1953 and the celebrations of her Silver, Golden, Diamond and Platinum jubilees in 1977, 2002, 2012, and 2022, respectively. Elizabeth is the longest-lived and longest-reigning British monarch, the oldest and longest-serving incumbent head of state, and the second-longest reigning sovereign monarch in world history. She has faced occasional republican sentiment and press criticism of the royal family, particularly after the breakdown of her children's marriages, her annus horribilis in 1992, and the death in 1997 of her former daughter-in-law Diana, Princess of Wales. However, support for the monarchy in the United Kingdom has been and remains high, as does her personal popularity.

Group of 2 United States Mint Set in Original Government Packaging! From 2000-2001 with 40 Coins Inside!. Group of 2 United State Mint Set from 2000-2001 included a total of 40 coins. The 2000 Mint Set contained a total of 20 different coins from the Philadelphia and Denver Mints, with denominations from one cent to one dollar. The increased number of coins was the result of the introduction of the Sacagawea Dollar. Frequently referred to as the golden dollar, this was the latest attempt to create a circulating $1 coin. The small sized format of the previous Susan B. Anthony Dollar was retained, but the coins were given a golden color, plain edge, and new design. Despite wide publicity, the coins never achieved widespread circulation. Each 2000 Mint Set contained Philadelphia and Denver Mint examples of the Lincoln Cent, Jefferson Nickel, Roosevelt Dime, Kennedy Half Dollar, and Sacagawea Dollar. The State Quarters Program also continued with five designs featuring Massachusetts, Maryland, South Carolina, New Hampshire, and Virginia. Starting with this year, the mint tokens which had previously been included in the sets were eliminated to make space for the new $1 coins. Coins were arranged in four different cellophane packs, divided based on the mint facility and denomination. The two packs of coins from the Philadelphia Mint were placed within an envelope designed in blue, while the two packs of coins from the Denver Mint were in a red colored envelope. A certificate of authenticity including coin specifications were placed within one of the envelopes. The 2001 State Quarters featured New York, North Carolina, Rhode Island, Vermont, and Kentucky. Additional coins included the Lincoln Cent, Jefferson Nickel, Roosevelt Dime, Kennedy Half Dollar, and Sacagawea Dollar. For each coin, separate examples from the Philadelphia and Denver Mint were included. The style of packaging remained similar to the prior years, with a redesign to the outer envelopes. The Philadelphia Mint envelope including a picture of the mint building with a blue color scheme. The Denver Mint envelope had an image of their own facility, themed in red. Each envelope contained two separate cellophane packs containing the coins.

Lot: 1139 - 1958 Canada 50 Cents 50c KM-53 Grades Select Unc
1958 Canada 50 Cents 50c KM-53 Grades Select Unc.

From 1974-1975 with 25 Coins Inside!. Group of 2 United State Mint Set from 1974-1975 included a total of 25 coins struck at three different mint facilities. Each 1974 Mint Set contained three Lincoln Cents (P-D-S), two Jefferson Nickels (P-D), two Roosevelt Dimes (P-D), two Washington Quarters (P-D), two Kennedy Half Dollars (P-D), and two Eisenhower Dollars (P-D). Coins included in the set were primarily struck at the Philadelphia and Denver Mint facilities with only the one cent coin also struck at San Francisco. Notably, this would be the last year that San Francisco minted coins would be included in the annual uncirculated mint set. Packaging kept the same format with the P and S minted coins in a cellophane flat pack with blue striping and the D minted coins in a pack with red striping. These were placed between cardboard and within an envelope marked at the upper left corner with U.S. Mint and 1974 Uncirculated Coin. The 1975 Mint Set remains a unique issue during the course of the annual set offering from the United States Mint. It is the only Mint Set that includes coins bearing a date different than the date of the set. This is due to the fact that 1975-dated quarters, half dollars, and dollar coins were not produced. To celebrate Americas upcoming Bicentennial, these denominations would be issued with a new reverse design and the dual date 1776-1976. In anticipation of high demand for the coins, production began in 1975. Accordingly, the bicentennial coins were included in the 1975 Uncirculated Mint Set. Another unique aspect of this set is that it only includes coins from the Philadelphia and Denver Mints. Starting this year, the San Francisco Mint no longer produced coins for circulation bearing the S mint mark. The Mint set contain two 1975 Lincoln Cents (P, D), two 1975 Jefferson Nickels (P, D) two 1976 Bicentennial Washington Quarters (P, D), two 1976 Bicentennial Kennedy Half Dollars (P, D), and two 1976 Bicentennial Eisenhower Dollars (P,D) that are Type 1 version. This variety exhibits thicker style lettering on the reverse design.

Lot: 1272 - 1935 Connecticut Old Commem Half Dollar 50c Grades Choice+ Unc
1935 Connecticut Old Commem Half Dollar 50c Grades Choice+ Unc. A commemorative coin issue was approved to celebrate the 300th anniversary of the founding of the colony of Connecticut. The design for the 1935 Connecticut Tercentenary Half Dollar would be quite striking art Deco representations of an oak tree and bald eagle. The famous Charter Oak appears on what is usually considered to be the obverse of the coin. This is where the colonists hid their royal charter when King James II sought to confiscate it. The representation of the tree is based on a painting by Charles DeWolf held by the Connecticut Historical Society. The proportions of the leaves are expanded for dramatic effect. The reverse of the coin (which Mint records actually refer to as the obverse) features a bald eagle with particularly stark and minimalistic features. Both sides of the coin were designed by Henry Kreis. The 1935 Connecticut Half Dollar had a relatively modest maximum authorized mintage of 25,000 coins. The net distribution including coins struck for assay was 25,018 after the entire issue sold out. When evaluating this issue, attention should be paid to the broad, flat area of the eagles wing, which tends to have hairlines or friction marks.

Group of 2 United States Mint Set in Original Government Packaging!
