HISTORICAL TAX CREDITS AVAILABLE

What is a Historical Tax Credit?

Federal tax credit  provides for a dollar-for-dollar reduction of federal income tax liability.

Kentucky tax credit is received as an allocation back in the form of a check at the end of your project!

The dollar value is calculated as a percentage of the qualified rehabilitation expenditures incurred during the course of the project.

The rehabilitation work must be done according to the Secretary of the Interior's Standards for Rehabilitation that ensure the historic character of the building has been preserved.

Historical Facts:

Famous American author and poet Irvin S. Cobb, was a frequent player in poker games held in the guest home.

The ladies who founded the Dogwood Trail did so in a series of meetings held here.

One of the first electric refrigerator models built by Frigidaire can be found inside this home & is still in working condition.

Located at the front of the house are Rhododendrons. Revenue agents dug these up after raiding a moonshine still in Eastern Kentucky.

This land was once referred to as Wallace Park.  According to & quoting the “Local & Family History” internet site Wallace Park marked the outskirts of the Paducah city limits; it was quite literally the end of the line. For a nickel, you could ride the rail car from the foot of Broadway to its culmination at the park and then turn around and come back again.

For additional information on Wallace Park go to

https://mclib.net/blogs/history/?tag=wallace-park.

Architect Max Maer, from St. Louis, MO designed & supervised the construction project.

This is one of only 2 homes that existed in this demographic area in 1925. This area was outside of the city limits and it was referred to as country living.
