CATALOG TEXT BELOW:
140 - Three Custom Tiger Maple Cabinets Three stunning hand-made pieces of tiger maple furniture (tagged as lots 140, 141 & 142). The distinctive wavy ‘tiger’ pattern gives this hardwood its name. Tiger maple is very durable, hard, and beautiful, and is used when woodworkers want to make a unique custom piece. The wood is also known as Red Maple, or “Fiddle Back” Maple because it was used to make violins. The first (Lot 140) is a 9’9” tall cabinet that includes several attractive features, including the base which is 56” wide, 41.5” high, and 27” deep. The second (Lot 141) tiger wood cabinet also stands 9’9” tall from floor to ceiling with the same size base as the first (56” across, 41.5” high, and 27” deep). This unit features custom storage including two sizes of drawers mounted on silent metal glides for quiet function and ease of use. (The glides can also be used to remove the drawers.) The upper section of the cabinet has 2 glass-front doors that open in the middle. There are 3 shelves – one wood shelf and 2 glass shelves. Three circular spotlights are mounted inside the top of the unit. The top molding is flush with the ceiling. The third cabinet (Lot 142) matches the other two in design, and is also 9’9” tall. This base unit of this tiger wood cabinet is 42” wide, and 15” deep, but also 41.5” high. Instead of drawers, there are 3 wooden shelves in the lower part of the cabinet. The upper part of the cabinet also has glass-front doors, with 1 wood and 2 glass shelves. The three cabinets could be placed separately, but together provide an impressive unit that is 160” (13’4”) across. If you want a unique room element that is both attractive and functional, this is an opportunity to own a significant piece of hand-made cabinetry. Moving these cabinets will require the removal of the top moldings. The shelves can be removed. The top and base units are attached with wood screws. These cabinets are extremely high quality, and could be used for home, office, or fine retail.
