Goldfinch Auctions announces a unique sale from the collection of Tim Hunt & Tama Janowitz.

The sale includes the Andy Warhol Man Ray Polaroid, and works by Robert Mapplthorp, Tama Janowitz, Tom Bell, Tracey Emin, Mike Bidlo, John Waters, Billy The Artist, Sidney Geist, Yuri Avvakumov, Albert Steiner, and Jullian Janowitz (Tama’s father).

Tim and Tama’s love of art, art glass, and found objects; as well as memorabilia, ancient and ethnographic pieces, furniture and decorative objects, make up this diverse 450+ lot sale.

The kind and distinguished Tim Hunt was curator of the Andy Warhol Foundation for the Visual Arts for more than 20 years. He had a deep love for tribal art and culture. Before joining the Foundation, Tim was a prominent gallerist and curator, and worked

at Christies London (1980-1986), specializing in African and Oceanic art. Tim’s recent passing was a great loss for so many.

The over-the-top and always brilliant Tama Janowitz helped define ’80 culture in America. Author of Slaves of New York” and other bestsellers, she was a frequent guest on David Letterman and a very memorable and edgy spokesperson for Amaretto and Apple Computers. Tama’s close relationship with Andy Warhol is a cherished time in her life. Two creative, spontaneous souls, bounding about New York.

Often referred to in the press as Tim and Tam’, Tim Hunt & Tama Janowitz were the ubiquitous ‘80’s couple. The two married and adopted a much-adored daughter, Willow, from China. Tama currently enjoys a quieter life in upstate New York, where she loves to ride horses and writes.
