The commission of Captain Sylvanus Smith on Jan. 1st. 1777 to the 15th Massachusetts Regiment, Continental line, commanded by Colonel Timothy Bigelow. Signed by JOHN HANCOCK, President. (see photo).Capt. Smith was active in the entire Revolutionary war including the Battles of Bunker Hill and Valley Forge.
Sylvanus Smith was born in 1740 and died in Shirley, Mass. in 1830. Please call for his complete military record: April 1775 to September 1784.

108 “Important” engraving (Mezzotint) by Michael Sokolnicki of Paris, France, 1799 of Thomas Jefferson after a drawing done April, 1798 in Phila. By Gen. Thadeusz. This is the only known mezzotint engraving and less than a 1⁄2 dozen known in aquatint (color). With paperwork from Monticello.

130 Maine related: General Orders, dated May 15th, 1815 concerning a Martial of Brigadier General John Blake in Bangor (Mass.) Maine. Sold with paperwork about the “Battle of Hampden”.


131 Militia of Maine: Company Order requiring Non-Commissioned & Privates to report for duty. Dated Sept. 1st, 1834.


132 State of Maine: Report dated Feb. 25th, 1841 to improve the State Militia


133 Important letter dated June 6th, 1809 to Colonel David Payson in Wiscasset, Maine. The letter “Expressing confidence that the status
of importing products to America will be reopened” This trade embargo lead to the War of 1812. Sold with paperwork typed copy of letter.

135 Civil War period: Autograph Manuscript poem. When Sherman Marched Down to the Sea” Tribute to Sherman's March to the Sea Circa 1865, Letter written by Private Philip Livingston (Co. A, 121st. Ohio Volunteers). Sold with paperwork.

137 1608 Geneva Bible, printed in London, England in very good condition. printed by Robert Barker. Predates the King James Bible of 1611.

138 War of 1812 Eagle crossguard sword w/carved bone, engraved blade.
It Belonged to captain James Babbs in the Maine militia during the War 1812. He was a pvt. In the Rev. War. Stable crack in bone handle.
