Item Description
Original 18" copper (painted blue) ball along with the sign from the historic former "Blue Ball Hotel" (circa 1706). The current village of Blue Ball, Pa. got it's name from the blue ball which hung in front of the hotel in the mid 1800's. Legend has it that many stagecoach drivers were unable to read so the blue ball became a recognizable local landmark on their travels! The sign sold for $300, the ball for $1,250.
