Item Description
Classic Bohlin, was a Rose Parade feature. Size 15" Made for the Eastman Oil Well Survey Company, with Crockett Bit. Includes original shipping trunk ! The Eastman Bohlin was made for H. John Eastman of Eastman Oil Well Survey Co. in Long Beach. Eastman had a reputation for controlling wild wells - those wells that ignited and threatened an entire oil field. He is also known as the "father of directional drilling and surveying" in the US. Eastman addressed the 2nd World Petroleum Conference in Paris, France in June, 1937. After the fire was suppressed at the huge Conroe Crater, TX geyser in 1933, he is credited with finally stopping the unrestricted oil flow. His techniques continue to be used through INTEQ and Baker-Hughes. Eastman grew up in Oklahoma and was known for being gentlemanly, modest, hardworking man who like to wear leather jackets. It is interesting that he ordered a saddle from Bohlin.
