Item Description
Painted WWII flag consisting of silk captured Japanese flag measuring 27" x 43". Flag has been overpainted with large Seabee holding machine gun in front arms, playing cards in middle arm, bottle of alcohol in rear arm. Corner of flags present painted insignia of the Navy, Marines and other units. Text reads "18th N.C.B. - Louis Mauriello". This flag from the 18th Navy Mobile Construction Battalion also features multi colored stenciled locations relating to the unit's areas of deployment. Flag is framed and exhibits some minor soiling. Flag sold with 1) Sheet music titled "The Song of the Seabees". 2) Postcard showing Seabee insignia. 3) Booklet titled "Build and Fight with the Seabees and Follow Your Trade in the Navy". Booklet measures 6" x 8 3/4" and includes 1943 transmittal letter. 4) Seabee pass request (unused) for Davisville, Rhode Island. 5) Printed newsletter 5 pp titled "Bee Lines" Norfolk, Virginia August 1942.
